Ted Talk Pitch Results - Mack Haid

Personal Opinions:

Recently I pitched my ted talk idea to the class and it went good. I decided to pitch the idea of, "The importance of failure" I think the pitch went good because going into it I made sure that my slide show was full of ideas and it also had a general direction. I think I did what I wanted to do and still gained feedback from people. In my ted talk pitch, I suggested ideas such as talking to both older and younger people about how they see failure and to see if kids these days have life too easy. I also said I could talk about certain experiences in my life where I have faced failure. I also mentioned wanting to look at sports or other sources for moments that failure occurred and they then took advantage of that to succeed. The final thing I talked about was how you can recognize failure and how you can grow as a person from it. I personally believe that any failure can be turned into a life lesson and that was something that I highlighted in my ted talk pitch.

Feedback from Others:

The main feedback I got from others:

-Talk to different generations and see if kids have it too easy-Talk to different walks of life and different types of people to see how culture can relate to failure. -Research high school students and see what they think about it all and ask them their opinions on failure -Relate it to sports and more broad subjects
-Look for bigger stories about people who went through failure in order to gain success
-Talk about my own life and sports (baseball)

Overall I think that I gained a lot of valuable ideas and knowledge that I can use moving forward in my ted talk. I think the main thing I realized while doing this pitch is that I might not have to research far for someone who has gone through failure and come out of it, I can just talk to my dad. I think my dad's story is one that I can use throughout my ted talk. I think that another thing I took from this pitch is that I could broaden my topic even more which may allow me to gain more research. I think that I might broaden my topic to the importance of hardship because I feel there are more things under that umbrella. Failure is still under that so I can still use all these ideas from this pitch in that idea. Overall I think that I gained a lot of knowledge from doing this pitch and I am now able to gain more ideas and perspectives on the topic.
